Home / Broom Orchard - Carlinville, Illinois Fall Activities
Broom Orchard on Broom Road outside Carlinville has been growing fruit since 1920 and is now run by new owners, the Rutherford family. In the fall it has a market, pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, and its annual Pumpkin Festival.
Does it cost anything to get in?
No. Admission and parking are free, and the orchard's motto is "we sell fruit, the fun is free." Pick-your-own apples cost the same as apples already picked.
When is the market open?
During harvest season it is open Monday through Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday noon to 5 PM. Cash and major credit cards are accepted.
When is the Pumpkin Festival?
The 35th annual Pumpkin Festival is October 10 and 11, with a big pumpkin patch and fall festivities.
Can we pick any apple we want?
Not every variety is open for picking, so check what is ready when you arrive. Peaches are not pick-your-own. The market sells fresh pressed cider, jams, preserves and honey.
