Wells Orchards on Kenowa Avenue southwest of Grand Rapids has been growing fruit since 1919. The apple harvest is underway and runs through October, and the farm market is stocked with apples, fresh cider and fall decorations.
When is the market open?
Monday through Friday 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 5 PM. Sunday hours are not listed, so plan on a weekday or Saturday trip. Winter hours begin November 1.
Can we pick our own?
The farm's homepage says there is no u-pick this year, while its activities page still describes picking your own pumpkin, so call (616) 453-3927 before you go if picking is the plan. The homepage also says the pumpkin patch and corn maze are opening soon.
What fall decorations do they sell?
Gourds, Indian corn, hardy mums, corn stalk bundles, straw bales and decorative pumpkins, plus baked goods, jams, jellies and salsa.
