Home / Karnes Orchard - Hillsboro, Ohio Fall Activities
Karnes Orchard on Worley Mill Road outside Hillsboro has been growing apples since 1876. In the fall it runs a farm market and pick-your-own apples, and it stocks pumpkins, gourds and mums for the porch.
When is the orchard open?
Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM. It is closed on Sundays, so plan a weekday or Saturday trip.
Which apples can we pick ourselves?
The farm's recent u-pick list is Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Jonathan. More varieties, like Cortland, Jonagold and Honeycrisp, are sold already picked in the market.
Is there anything baked on site?
On Fridays and Saturdays only, the market has apple and peach fry pies, whole pies and homemade sourdough bread. Fresh pressed cider, local honey, maple syrup and apple butter are on the shelves too.
Can we buy apples for the deer or horses?
Yes. Windfall apples are sold as animal apples, which is handy if you have backyard deer or farm animals at home.
